Coastal Carolina University Works To Change Its Free Speech Policy After Leftists Declare TPUSA Posters “Hate Speech”

The word “hate” is now inciting violence, according to left-wing radicals at Coastal Carolina University. To celebrate Valentine’s Day and Black History Month, CCU’s Turning Point USA chapter had posters made saying, “Celebrate Black History Month and Valentine’s Day by choosing love over critical hate theory.”

The snowflakes at CCU totally missed the play on words and proceeded to tear down the school-approved posters. After reporting the destruction of university property to public safety, nothing was done, and the situation was ignored by the school.

On February 17, activists who opposed the TPUSA poster gathered around and engaged in a civil conversation about it. The group agreed to continue the conversation the next day, resulting in a protest breaking out in front of the university president’s office demanding changes be made to the free speech policy at CCU.

In response to the protest, CCU’s TPUSA president and vice president visited the university president and explained the intent of their poster. They meant to start a conversation about critical race theory, not to incite violence or hatred, as the leftists claimed. CCU’s president understood and thanked them for visiting with him.

The following Sunday, an email was sent from the university president stating that the poster was created with the intent to incite violence, calling out TPUSA. After the email was sent out, the TPUSA members did “not feel safe on campus, and have been told not to walk alone,” the TPUSA president explained. “The university is reviewing its free speech policy and, although they said they would involve us in the process, have not reached out to us.”

Currently, the university is revising its free speech policy. According to WMBF News, “university leaders set a deadline of March 4 for everyone to share what they want in the first draft.”

Changing university free speech policies when someone gets offended is NOT free speech. Changing it shows that free speech is only free speech if nobody’s feelings are hurt. Sounds like restricted speech to me!

“TPUSA is helping you get prepared to influence the opinion of your friends and those who are around you.”
