Changing Definitions is a Hallmark of a Dystopian Society
We are LITERALLY LIVING IN THE UPSIDE DOWN!
In the past year alone, American society has changed the definitions of objective terms like woman, girl, female, recession, anti-vaxxer, domestic terrorist, pandemic, vaccine, extremist, gender, pedophile, mother, and even DEFINITION.
What’s really crazy is these changes aren’t isolated to conversational or colloquial use, but we are truly changing the meaning of these words in the actual dictionary. In July, Merriam-Webster changed the definition of “female” to mean “having a gender identity that is the opposite of male.”
Our current reality feels oddly reminiscent of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, in which definitions were consistently changed of the community’s “Seven Commandments” in order to control the population. In Orwell’s book, controlling the words and language of society ultimately allowed those in power to destroy society from the inside out.
The left likes to say that the redefinitions are simply “clarifications” that are oddly much less clear than the original definition. Changing the meaning of words may not seem important at the moment, but when this pattern continues en masse, we see the alteration and ultimately destruction of an entire society.
