Candace Owens: When Emotions are ‘Hijacked, Great Evil Takes Place’

At Turning Point USA’s annual Young Women’s Leadership Summit on Saturday, political commentator Candace Owens spoke with thousands of young women about the ills plaguing American society.
This year’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit focused on the specific trials women in America face today, one of which is the transgender movement which only just exploded on the scene. The speakers at TPUSA’s conference explained that women need to walk through the storm of lies and hateful, propagandistic rhetoric from the left to preserve what little semblance of reality is left.
During her speech, Candace Owens explained that kindness is now viewed through a progressive lens, which has made truth harmful and prohibited from all public conversation. It is now unacceptable to be honest with someone if it will cause them some emotional pain. Owens told the audience of young women that under this new definition of “kindness,” the emotionality women feel has been hijacked and warped from a positive into a negative.
“There is a thing about women — and it is emotion. Right? It is emotion — we have emotion,” Owens explained. “It is good to be emotional, it is good to be nurturing. But when that good quality is hijacked — and it can be hijacked, great evil takes place.”
“It is women who felt bad for men that felt like women on the inside. It was feminists that said, ‘Well if that’s how he feels, let’s just be nice and call him by whatever pronoun he wants to be called, what the big deal?'”
She explains that this “hijacking” of emotions and the social pressure to be “nice” rather than honest has led to the abolition of women. The left in America refuses to allow the word to hold any meaning and provides nothing but circular and “inclusive” pseudo-definitions.
“We are facing a time right now in this country when hijacked femininity is the problem and hijacked emotion is the problem,” she continued. “When women having their emotions having their emotions manipulated by the media is the problem.”
Being “nice” is now conflated with being inclusive, accepting of all identities — affirming even, and allowing men into women’s spaces. The most important takeaway from Owens’ speech was the idea that to save American culture, women especially need to take back control of their emotions from the left.
She encouraged attendees to remember that honesty is more kind than a lie, to never affirm a delusion, and to speak the truth in love, always.
