It’s getting really old listening to pundits constantly bemoan the issues of sanctioning China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran over their human rights abuses, when there are problems developing much closer to home.
We’ve seen no shortage of tyrannical policies implemented in the country of Canada. This time, our northern neighbors are taking another step towards embracing its totalitarian state religion by introducing blasphemy laws to protect its most cherished ritual: drag queen story hours.
According to Lifesite News: “In a 10-5 vote, Calgary City councilors approved a new ‘Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw’ that would disallow ‘specified protests’ both inside and outside all city-owned and affiliated public buildings.“
Essentially, this means that protests against radical LGBT events by pastors or concerned parents will be barred within a 100-meters of any public building these events are taking place. Those who are found guilty of breaking the new rules could face fines of up to $10,000 and one year in jail.
The bylaw went into effect immediately after it was passed.
Yes, you read that right. As many conservatives from across the western world have been doubling down on taking down grooming events, progressives are using their own state power to defend events that sexualize minors. Meanwhile, some adjacent right-wing pundits in recent days have been cowardly crying about the fact that conservatives are using too much state power to reign in these grooming events. Lamenting that leftists could, in turn, use state power to further cement their grooming ways (newsflash, they already are).
It’s yet another draconian turn for the nation that comes after Canadian officials took measures to suppress COVID-19 freedom protests which criticized the totalitarian lockdowns and mandates the state enacted.
The new law also takes aim at any protests against other LGBT-related public facilities. These northern laws come after many American states have recently taken action to limit the exposure of sexually explicit events to minors. Tennessee recently passed a law outlawing lewd events for minors, and Florida recently moved to revoke a hotel’s liquor license for hosting a drag queen performance that included underage attendees.
