If you are a card-carrying member of the NRA, don’t expect to adopt a pet at The Shelter Hope Pet Shop in California.
According to Yahoo News, Kim Sill, the owner of the pet shop has added the following question to the interview process: “Where do you stand on gun control?” If your answer does not involve stricter gun control laws, she will not allow you to adopt a pet.
One of the reasons Sill sites for her criteria for adoption is a nearby shooting that occurred in 2018, where, as reported by Insider, a 28-year-old marine Corps vet killed 12 people at the nearby Borderline Bar and Grill. In the article, Sill claims that the gunman had scouted her location as a potential target.
Recently, the latest tragedy in Uvalde, TX has ignited her to make the official change in the shop’s adoption policy in an effort to make an impact on gun control policies.
Sill’s criteria is absurd. While she can exercise her right to deny service to customers, her requirements are petty. In what way does a person’s NRA status change how they would care for a pet? Sill is willing to prevent pets from being cared for just because the adoptee may have political views she disagrees with.
Turns out the “tolerant left” isn’t as tolerant as they claim to be.
