BREAKING: Officers Barricade Doors from Violent Mob of Protestors at TPUSA Chapter Event, State Police Called
The University of New Mexico student Turning Point USA chapter invited Tomi Lahren, Fox News host, to speak at the Student Union on campus. But what was intended to be a civil discussion turned violent by leftist protestors:
Videos from the event show officers, by no fault of their own, understaffed and underprepared for the chaos that would ensue, barricading the doors against a violent mob of students, protecting the room in which the event was being held.
“They started pushing the officers that were guarding the door … but they tried to bust through the doors, at one point they almost made it though . . . not nearly enough officers were present. I don’t think anybody though it would get this bad.“

It was reported by a student within the chapter that there were multiple signs written in chalk, inviting students to protest the event, using provocative and slanderous trigger words such as “white supremacy” and “racism.” Activists outside the Turning Point chapter event chanted vulgar and inflammatory phrases, aimed at intimidating their fellow classmates:
The mob also damaged property while trying to get into the room Lahren was in:
In an Instagram post, Lahren explained that she and the conservative students in the room were unsure what the mob of protestors would do if they made it through the makeshift barricade. Both Lahren and the students were encouraged to move to a more interior part of the building for safety while the state police emergency unit was called to the scene.
Lahren reported that not only was the fire alarm falsely pulled, but at one point during the evening there were concerns of shots being fired in the building. Thankfully, this was confirmed to be false information.
Originally, building management told the TPUSA chapter that protesters wouldn’t be allowed to enter the building, and would be stopped outside the event. However, it seems this was the fault of the university for massively understaffing security officers.
“The university knew there was going to be a planned protest. There was a banner going around social media for days, especially yesterday, leading up to the event. They knew that it was going to be bad. They knew that Antifa was involved. They knew that it was going to be an organized protest against my speech. They did nothing.”

Turning Point USA students remained calm throughout the situation, according to Lahren, who specifically thanked the chapter president who handled the situation with poise. Students will likely receive significant backlash following this event from their peers, and their bravery in standing up for their beliefs and values is admirable and commendable.
College campuses have become a battleground of ideas in a literal sense. Violence ensues whenever a conservative speaker is brought to campus to discuss basic fundamental American values. But the kindness, persistence, and clarity of thought and mind exampled by these Turning Point USA chapter students is respectable, and should be reverberated throughout our movement.
