BREAKING: Leaked Video of the “Tunnel of Oppression” at Fort Hays State University, KS

“Welcome to the Tunnel of Oppression!” — Fort Hayes University, Student Engagement

Multiple TPUSA student activists leaked exclusive footage to Turning Point USA about the “Tunnel of Oppression” which had visited FHSU on April 7th.

A student text sent to TPUSA, seen below, describes the “Tunnel of Oppressionas “an interactive presentation meant to raise awareness and explore different types of oppression.

FHSU asked that attendees “be open-minded and respectful throughout the event,” which was hosted by FHSU Student Engagement and “our amazing students, faculty, and staff from Us 4 U, Teachers of Tomorrow, Black Student Union, [and] Gender and Sexuality Alliance.

A second TPUSA student activist leaked video footage of FHSU’s “Tunnel of Oppression” presentation, seen below.

The video depicts a quick overview of the “Tunnel of Oppression,” its resources, and the student clubs which hosted it. However, a 2018 student article describes the “Tunnel of Oppression,” which had apparently visited FHSU previously, in greater detail:

The “tunnel” consisted of a series of stations located in the Memorial Union’s Fort Hays Ballroom which formed a pathway. The room was dimly lit with individual lighting focused on each station to metaphorically shine a light on issues of oppression.”

— Shaelin Sweet, FHSU

In 2018, the “Tunnel of Oppression” was hosted by FHSU’s student clubs: Us4U, African Ambassadors, Black Student Union, International Student Union, and the GayStraight Alliance.

During this first visit, the Tunnel of Oppression served to raise “awareness about stereotypes and aggressive speech.” FHSU program sponsors continued explaining the purpose of the “Tunnel of Oppression” with euphemistic language about living one’s faith by ending oppression, recognizing one’s own privilege, and preventing the spread of “fake news.”

In yet another outrageous example of a misuse of taxpayer dollars, student loans, and four years of a student’s life, Fort Hays State University is subjecting its campus to “anti-racist training” that once again is the very embodiment of racism.

“Turning Point USA is the fastest-growing youth movement in America, and they have a potential to play a decisive role in shaping our country for decades to come.”

- Senator Ted Cruz
