Bold Mother Dresses in ‘Drag’ Costume, Revealing School Board Hypocrisy

Iowa mother Kimberly Reicks showed up to the Ankeny Community School District board meeting wearing a the same outfit worn by a drag queen, who made an unauthorized performance at Reicks’ local high school in May.

The two performers, both males around the age of 21, were brought into the school by the Gay Straight Alliance club, in May 23rd, 2022. According to the district’s original statements, this event was “unauthorized,” board members promised concerned parents in the community that there would be an investigation into how this occurred. 137 days later, “the school board has yet to issue an apology, discipline those responsible, or disclose the outcome of their investigation,” according to Reicks.

Video from the event went viral, once posted to Twitter by Libs of TikTok, and concerned citizens began flooding the school district’s inbox with “thousands of negative replies, with many of them accusing both district officials and the performers of being pedophiles and “grooming” students through a drag performance,” according to Des Moines Register.

Regardless, the national backlash was still not enough to get school board members to condemn the performance. They ran crying to the media, claiming to have received “threats of violence” and yet all they had to do was apologize, and hold someone accountable for this horrible, inappropriate incident involving underage students. But of course, they refused. Apologizing would mean that they don’t stand with the LGBTQ+ community, and they couldn’t do that.

“I want LGBTQ+ students and community to know that I wholeheartedly and unabashedly support you for who you are.”

“I see you, you matter, and you belong at Ankeny Community School District and I will continue to fight for your right to belong and be safe in our school buildings from my position as long as I am up here.”

Because no action had been take on behalf of the administrators, Kimberly Reicks decided that it was time to do something unconventional, to call attention to the fact that no one had been held responsible for the gross sexualization of children.

“You have employees that have flat-out violated several of your own policies, included but not limited to: dress code, misuse of public property, inappropriate interactions with students, and several security violations.

I mean, I can not even enter a school to help with a classroom party, or have lunch with my kids, without a full background check. So please explain to me how this 21 year old man — dressed the way he was — was allowed into our school.

It seems to me that a man who identifies with the LGBTQ community is not held to the same standards as me, as a white woman.”

“This outfit should not EVER be accepted in our schools.” Reicks said to the board members. The mother explained that she herself was “embarrassed” to wear that outfit, but said that if she is uncomfortable, if the school board members and parents in attendance were uncomfortable, imagine how the children being subject to this behavior from a man in school must have felt.

Reicks is a fearless mom, fighting for transparency in her public school system — as all parents should. In 2021, she filed a lawsuit against the same school district over mask mandates that many on the board, including the Superintendent Erick Pruitt, wanted to continue strictly enforcing.

Parents should not have to go to such great lengths to receive honesty and accountability from school board members, but unfortunately, that is where we are at in our country. We need otoffer more solutions than simply promoting homeschooling, private or charter schools. Those are of course the best options, but not every parent has the ability to provide those forms of education for their kids. Thousands of children will still be enrolled in public schools, and we can’t abandon them to this leftist insanity, we need to continue to hold our local school boards accountable to the tax-paying citizens who fund public education institutions: they answer to you, the parent, no one else.
