The Trump administration announced Wednesday it will stop funding climate programs amounting to $8 billion of federal funding in an ongoing effort to cut needless funding for programs.
These programs exist in left-leaning states by and large.
Russell Vought, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget, posted on X information about the canceled funding. No mention was made of which climate programs are being defunded, but promised more information will be announced.
“Nearly $8 billion in Green New Scam funding to fuel the Left’s climate agenda is being cancelled. More info to come from @ENERGY,” Vought posted. “The projects are in the following states: CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, WA.”
Vought also announced there will be mass firings of federal workers within the next few days.
According to CNBC, “the Trump administration had frozen about $18 billion in federal funding to two major infrastructure projects in New York City.”
In similar news, Politico reports the US Department of Energy reportedly added “climate change,” “green,” and “decarbonization,” and “emissions,” to its “list of words to avoid.” However, the DOE has denied these actions.
“There is no directive at the Energy Department instructing employees to avoid using phrases such as ‘climate change’ or ’emissions.’ President Trump and Secretary Wright remain committed to transparency and fostering an open, honest dialogue about climate science,” Department of Energy Press Secretary Ben Dietderich wrote in a statement to NPR.
