The Pentagon announced yesterday they would be sending hundreds of troops to Ukraine amid rising Russian-Ukraine tensions. The announcement comes on the heels of NATO declaring they’d be sending ships & aircraft to the region.
The “prepare to deploy orders” were issued to several military installations, asking troops to be ready to deploy within the next 18-36 hours.
Americans in Ukraine have been advised to evacuate the nation by the State Department, who will begin “evacuating families and nonessential staff from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv” this week. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have publicly said Americans have no need to evacuate the nation.
Time will tell if the escalation of tensions in the region will lead to conflict or whether the United States/NATO will choose to deploy forces.
