As school resumes back this August, so does the topic of mandating masks for them. I understand the desire to keep our children safe from this virus, but we have to be realistic with what the CDC is saying about our children in the first place. They are not the ones at risk…at all. Kids already went through a year of masking at school and it’s clear that their frustrations have been voiced to their parents, as there has been an uptick of anti-mask rallies held at various school boards

Is mandating masks for children child abuse? Many say yes, as a report in Ireland says it can worsen existing health issues, stunt language skills and cause psychological harm. It’s not clear that children wearing masks in school is solving anything. We’ve all seen kids wear masks; they barely can keep it on and/or it’s filthy. The report also talks about how these masks can be breeding grounds for even more viruses. They say we should wear the N95 face mask, but we all see kids wearing cloth masks. It’s apparent that the goal of protecting our kids might be doing more harm.

Since the beginning of this pandemic, we’ve seen a stark rise in child suicides. This is a topic that has not been addressed enough. What are the effects of the mask and lockdowns on our children that are driving some to the brink of suicide? Let’s take it even younger; what are the effects of masks on four-year-olds still in the developmental phase? How are masking stunting their psychological growth with understanding facial expressions/cues? These kids are more likely to be harmed from the seasonal flu, yet here we are, mandating masks on them to prevent them from spreading a disease that couldn’t care less about them.
