An anti-ICE protester in Massachusetts drew viral attention after forgetting to put her car in park while yelling at federal agents, resulting in the vehicle rolling into a lake and sinking.
The incident occurred in Upton, Massachusetts, about 40 miles west of Boston in Worcester County. Fox News reporter Bill Melugin shared video of the scene, showing the protester’s car slowly sinking into the water as she stood nearby on her phone.
In the background, an ICE agent can be seen leading someone away in handcuffs. A voice in the video is heard saying, “Well, that sucks. Look at that Lucy. Her car got lost.” The clip quickly went viral on X.
The incident took place as ICE continues extensive operations in Massachusetts under President Donald Trump. In the summer, ICE announced the arrest of nearly 1,500 illegal immigrants during a monthlong enforcement effort targeting organized crime, gangs, and other offenders. The initiative, called Operation Patriot, involved ICE Boston working with federal officials to apprehend 1,461 people in May.
“The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is a safer place today thanks to the hard work and determination of the men and women of ICE and our federal partners,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said at the time. “Make no mistake: Every person that we arrested was breaking our immigration laws, but most of these individuals had significant criminality. They are criminal offenders who victimized innocent people and traumatized entire communities — murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, child sex predators and members of violent transnational criminal gangs. Some were convicted of violent crimes in the United States, and others were wanted for criminality in their native countries. All made the mistake of attempting to subvert justice by hiding out in Massachusetts.”
