Another Restaurant Closes its Doors in Oakland Due to Soft-on-Crime Policies
Businesses in liberal stronghold cities are facing a growing crisis as the surge in violent crime and theft continue, particular in California. Recently, In-n-Out Burger closed its only location in Oakland, California due to the increasing rate of break-ins, shoplifting, and car-jackings. Despite the company’s profitability and security efforts, the relentless wave of criminal activity was too much of a burden and posed as an obstacle in protecting the safety of customers and staff.
Adding to the list of closures in Oakland, Denny’s, a staple with over 54 years of operation, has also fallen victim to the weak-on-crime policies of California. Several reports stated that the restaurant has experienced frequent car break-ins, robberies, and violent criminal activity. When customers went to the door they were met with a sign that said they hoped to see customers at a different location in the Bay Area.
“The Denny’s Restaurant located at 601 Hegenberger Road in Oakland is now closed,” the sign reads. “Denny’s has been honored to serve the Oakland community over the last 54 years. Closing a restaurant is never an easy decision or one taken lightly. However, the safety and well-being of Denny’s team members and valued guests is our top priority. Weighing those factors, the decision has been made to close this location.”
The troubling reality of progressive cities across the nation is becoming increasingly evident, with businesses facing unprecedented challenges in maintaining operations amid rising crime rates. In May 2023, a community meeting was held with many residents demanding that the city take action and address violent crime.
It appears that progressive leadership has yet to implement effective measures to ensure the safety and security of businesses and residents alike, leaving the city in a declining state.
