Leftwing Students Jeer, Intimidate, and then Destroy School Property to End TPUSA Inaugural Club Meeting at Missouri High School (Video)
TPUSA students held their first informational meeting at Lee’s Summit West High School, where left wing students became so disorderly that the administration was pressured into shutting down the event. However, this did not prevent one student from overturning the TPUSA table, shattering the glass and sending TPUSA material across the floor. The administration can be seen in a video trying to recall the student for disciplinary action. Dr. Hertzog, the principal, did not acknowledge the violence in an email to parents.
Today, a group of left wing students interrupted and then destroyed the tabling event hosted by TPUSA student activists at Lee’s Summit West High School in Lee Summit, MO, shattering glass and sending TPUSA materials across the library floor.
TPUSA student activists had chosen to gather in the school library, share their conservative values, and even welcome newcomers to discuss Turning Point USA’s pro-American message of freedom, fiscal responsibility, and limited government—the cornerstones of TPUSA student activism.
In the video below, TPUSA student activist and Lee’s Summit West High School junior, Kali M., is seen trying to engage in a discussion with fellow classmates. However, left wing activists quickly derail the meeting by shouting, jeering, and interrupting Kali and others.
Off-screen, the TPUSA table is heard shattering on the floor as a stunned Kali looks on. TPUSA informational material can be seen behind shards of broken glass, while students are heard laughing in the video.
Speaking to TPUSA, Kali made the following comments in the aftermath of left wing intimidation
“I feel saddened by the state of some of our student body, that we can’t have different opinions without resorting to name calling, bullying, the destruction of school property, and violence. Some students claim that we are all of these hateful things but the actions today show the truth, that it’s not our group that does anything hateful at all, but we are subjected to it all the time. My hope is that we can all come together, have great discussions and leave still as friends, even if we still leave with different opinions. ” – Kali M.
Lee’s Summit West High School issued a statement to parents, making no mention of the violence, unprofessionalism, or intimidation from left wing students towards their fellow classmates.
Dr. Hertzog, principal at Lee’s Summit West, characterized the events by stating that “students only met in protest during Titan Time and then they returned to class.” Dr. Hertzog mentions that students “attended the meeting to voice their concerns.”
Regarding the violent incident, Dr. Hertzog said in his statement that “the school processed a disciplinary issue,” though he failed to mention any specifics for concerned parents including that it was the left wing group that committed the violent act, nor did he specify what exactly the “discipline” of the guilty student would entail.
