Did you know Abercrombie & Fitch Co. started as a hunting and outdoor brand?
This past weekend, I was at a hunting show in Dallas, Texas, called Dallas Safari Club! Many hunting and outdoor brands/companies set up booths as fellow outdoorsmen go looking for their next must-have purchase!
There was a booth there that sold vintage & collectible firearms. On one of the boxes wrote “Abercrombie & Fitch Co.!” That’s when one of my friends enlightened me that the company we know today as a trendy fashion brand started as a hunting and sportsman’s brand!
A little Google search and I found out that in 1892 the original store in New York City was founded by David T. Abercrombie, and later Ezra Fitch purchased a large sum in 1904 and became a co-founder of Abercrombie & Fitch Co.
The store was once a 12-story department store on Madison Ave. In 1988, Limited Brands acquired the company, which refocused the brand on apparel that most of us are familiar with today. You can read more about the history of Ambercrombie & Fitch Co. here!
