A Quarter Million Illegal Immigrants Crossed Into The US In September Alone

Last month, the border was one of the biggest stories in the news as the American public saw waves of illegal immigrants cross into the United States. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) have since released the data on the number of illegal crossings for September, announcing that over 250,000 illegals crossed into the U.S. last month alone, with millions more still residing in the states.
According to a report by Fox News, “total migrant encounters for September have exceeded 260,000, which is the highest monthly total ever recorded.” This number also includes encounters “between ports of entry and Office of Field Operations (OFO) encounters at ports.”
This record-setting number follows the already 230,000 crossings that were reported for August, breaking the previous crossing high from back in December of 2022 with officials encountering 252,320 migrants.
During September, CBP sources shared with reporters that they were seeing over 10,000+ encounters per day. Last month during a trip to Eagle Pass, Texas, Elon Musk spoke to Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales who shared a similar number, stating that border officials in Texas alone were seeing, “11,000 people coming over daily for the past week.”
This past month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that it is currently overseeing 5.7 million illegal immigrants already residing in the U.S., and the government is currently looking to provide all illegals with “‘medical services, housing’ to all,” according to the New York Post. According to ICE Director Tom Homan, this proposed program would cost the American taxpayers “billions,” working as a welfare program for illegal immigrants who are awaiting their court dates.
Since 2021, ICE has stated that the “number of non-detained migrants being monitored by the federal agency is 2.4 million more than before.” On top of the almost 6 million illegal immigrants that have been accounted for, a new Congressional Committee report further put this crisis into perspective, remarking that, “the number of illegal migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border exceeded 2.2 million in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2023.”
The fiscal year of 2022 saw the highest number of illegal border crossings, with reports stating that over 2.7 million illegals were encountered that year alone.
