I recently had the pleasure of attending the 2021 Daily Caller News Foundation Gala, where I met and spoke with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Although he was swarmed by people waiting to shake his hand and smile for a picture, he couldn’t have been more patient, engaging, inquisitive, and kind.
He asked me where I was from and when I told him Florida, his eyes lit up and he asked me several thoughtful follow-up questions about my area. He even asked me how I thought he was doing as a Governor. This meeting was an honor and accomplished so much more than I ever expected.
The Governor’s speech was also expectation-exceeding. He spoke like a true fighter, promising to stand up for free speech, medical autonomy and the constitution. He addressed keeping our children free from indoctrination in our schools and he spoke passionately about preventing vaccine passports in the state of Florida.
Overall, it was an inspiring night with an inspiring leader who gave me great hope for the future of our country. Every day we should be thankful for true patriots like Governor DeSantis, who are willing to make brave decisions, stand up to tyranny, and fight for our freedom.
