18-Year-Old Male Student Identifies as Trans, Showers with Freshman Girls at WI High School

A Wisconsin law group is requesting a response from a local school district after a biological male who identifies as transgender used female facilities and showered with four freshman girls.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) has alleged that an 18-year-old male student, who identifies as a woman, exposed himself to the 14-year-old freshman girls at Sun Prairie East High School. The law group describes the incident by explaining the student undressed in front of the girls and showered right next to them, displaying his genitals. The male student approached the girls and stated, “I’m trans, by the way.” They were previously aware of who this student was and the fact he identifies as transgender.

The female students were showering after their first-hour P.E. class and were rinsing off while still wearing swimsuits. According to them, the male student was not even in the same class as them. The 18-year-old male initially faced the wall but eventually turned around, fully exposing himself to the underage girls.

“Understandably, the girls were caught off guard and shocked, closed their eyes, and tried to hurry up and leave the showers as quickly as possible.”

The incident was reported to Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD), but WILL argues that the school district, “did not follow its own policy in this instance regarding District Response to Alleged Sexual Harassment.” Associate Principal Heidi Walter refused to report the incident, which is required under Title IX’s anti-sex discrimination law.

“According to [SPASD’s locker room policy] guidance document, if biological girls desire more privacy, it is the girls who must leave and use a separate bathroom or locker room.”

“SPASD failed to think through what loosening boundaries for single-sex spaces could mean for girls. Provided the nature of the incident that occurred, we would ask that [SPASD] be transparent and public in [its] response.”

An attorney for SPASD responded to this incident to Fox News Digital, stating that the letter from WILL “provides neither an accurate nor complete account of the events that occurred.” The attorney went on to state that this is a “confidential, pupil matter.” However, the school’s principal did apologize to one of the girls’ parents via email and stated the incident “should not have happened.”

“It’s an honor to be a part of this organization.”
