It’s Time For The Airline Mask Mandate To End

Flying, while never particularly amazing, has become increasingly unbearable during the Coronavirus pandemic. Personally, I’ve probably had more negative experiences with flight attendants and various airport staff in the past year than I’d had in the decade prior, and only one thing is to blame: the federal mask mandate. The mask mandate has turned lower-level employees into COVID enforcers, bothering passengers on airplanes with pointed reminders to “place their masks over their noses” and even waking people up who have fallen asleep and allowed their masks to slip down.

Funny, this only seems to happen in Economy and never in First or Business class travel – how better to ensure that the lower classes are kept in their place! While the airlines – which never stopped service BTW – save MILLIONS per year by restricting food/beverage service (in coach class) “because of COVID,” that hasn’t stopped them from receiving a $25 BILLION (yes, that’s Billion with a “B”) bailout from the federal government due to the “disruption of their services.”

Of course, this is all ridiculous, and now that airlines have taken the bailout money, they’ll face increased pressure from the socialist Left who is now advocating policies – like the proposed bill in Philadelphia that would require airlines to pay for increased medical benefits for employees – that they’re balking at.

The effects of COVID on many industries will be felt for DECADES to come, but none more so than air travel, which went from bad to unbearable and shows no sign of getting back to what it used to be before.

Enough mask mandates, enough corporate bailouts of this awful industry, enough snarky, rude flight attendants and airport staff who secretly enjoy being the COVID police and turning the tables on the customers THEY are supposed to be serving.

Just…ENOUGH.
