Congrats everyone, if you’re reading this, you most likely live in the United States, which means you have the utmost PRIVILEGE of living in the greatest country to ever exist!!!!
Every year we celebrate the AMAZINGNESS of our country on this day, but this year I wanted to dial it back a little…
I don’t want to just focus on the hot dogs, the BBQs, the freedom-loving people gathering across this beautiful country. I want to focus on the ORIGIN of America.
It’s true, America was “born” on July 4th but it’s important to know why.
In short, our Founding Fathers felt a pulse that many other patriots felt in the year 1776. Something was wrong.
There was high taxes, no representation, tyrannical rule, among many other things, which sparked the idea inside thousands of brave patriots that they would rather have died instead of suffering under tyranny.
That’s a bold feeling.
To be so compelled by a certain idea that you would end EVERYTHING. In fact, the patriots who died in the Revolutionary War sacrificed their lives for an idea that they NEVER got to experience.
Let me reiterate my previous comment; that’s an UNHEARD OF feeling.
Imagine walking up to someone and saying I have a brilliant idea, you will have to die for it, and you’re never going to experience it, BUT it’ll be worth dying for.
That’s a tough sell, but for more than 6,000 Americans, that was something they did. That was their reality.
Now, what would that look like if that compulsion, that fire in our chest, that LOVE of more than ourselves, existed in us Every. Single. Day.
That’s my challenge to you.
Almost 7,000 people lost their lives for an idea that YOU get to experience EVERY DAY.
As Americans, we have the PRIVILEGE to experience the idea so many died for, and it’s our duty to pass that very same tenacity on for generations to come.
Don’t lose that fire. Don’t lose that idea. Fight EVERY DAY for the values that so many Americans across our short time of existence have died for.
But most of all, enjoy your FREEDOM.
