Gay Men In Afghanistan Hide From Taliban Executions

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re aware of the fact that the Taliban just came back into power in Afghanistan after 20 years. The consequences have been horrific and will only get worse.

One of the many issues of the Taliban’s return is the probable execution of gay men in Afghanistan. Twenty years ago, when the Taliban was last in power, the protocol was to execute any gay men.

Business Insider just revealed that they’ve gotten in contact with gay men in Afghanistan to hear their plans as the Taliban settles into power.

Homosexuality was still illegal in Afghanistan after the Taliban left 20 years ago, but activists described the environment as “safe.” But now, one activist said it’s likely gay men will be “weeded out and exterminated” by the Taliban.

The men shared with Business Insider that they have ended their relationships or have agreed to no longer see or communicate with their significant other to ensure they are not caught and killed.

When sentenced to death for homosexuality, it may often be by stoning or crushed by a nine-foot wall.

This is yet another reason to be thankful to be an American. We may debate the issue of gay marriage and other cultural issues in America often, but at the end of the day, we should feel blessed that even though some individuals may disagree with certain lifestyles, everyone in America is still guaranteed the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

“I would have done anything to have Turning Point USA when I was your age, so it really is a true honor to be here today.”
