Elon Musk announced at a campaign event for former President Donald Trump that he will award one person $1 million for 17 days leading up to November 5, according to a report from the Daily Caller

Musk launched a Political Action Committee (PAC) dubbed America PAC to help finance candidates who he believes are pro-America. At a rally in Harrisburg, Musk announced the first winner of the America PAC’s $1 million petition signer giveaway.

“I have a surprise for you. We’re going to be awarding $1 million randomly to people who have signed the petition every day from now until the election,” Musk said.

In a separate tweet, Musk said the “goal of the $1M/day prize is to maximize awareness of [the] petition to support The Constitution.”

In order to qualify for the $1 million, people must sign a petition that supports fundamental Constitutional rights. The petition advocates for First and Second Amendment rights such as free speech and the right to bear arms.

America PAC is targeting battleground states with the petition, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

According to America PAC’s official website, signers can receive $47 — an homage to the 47th — for each registered voter referred to sign.

Legal experts have come out of the woodwork to claim that Musk’s voter registration lottery is a “legal gray area.”

“This is at best very questionable legally,” said Michael Morse, an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. “Federal law says that you cannot pay someone to register to vote. I think you can read this petition as an inducement to register to vote.”

Those same legal scholars were seemingly silent as a left-leaning voter registration organization bribed potential voters with a chance to win Taylor Swift tickets if they registered to vote.
