Did the Attorney General Lie to Congress About the FBI Targeting Parents?

There is a HUGE update in the explosive story from earlier this fall about the FBI targeting concerned school parents. Here’s what happened:

Members of Congress on the House Judiciary Committee just sent a letter to US Attorney General Merrick Garland announcing that they’ve been working with a WHISTLEBLOWER inside the FBI who gave them documents proving that the FBI IS using counterterrorism tactics to investigate parents that the FBI considers potential “domestic terrorists.”

The documents from the whistleblower state that the FBI is adding “threat tags” to the parents they are keeping an eye on.

Now why is this so important? Because that is a counterterrorism tactic.

Now, to help you guys understand what just played out, we need to recap. Just this fall, Attorney General Garland sent a memorandum to the FBI instructing them to begin mobilizing against parents that are advocating against indoctrination in schools.

Garland instructed the FBI to work with each US Attorney and meet with federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district within the next 30 days.

Americans around the country were furious to see our tax dollars and government resources being used to weaponize the bureaucracy against parents concerned about critical race theory indoctrination, the sexualization of their children in the classroom, and so many other issues happening in our schools.

On October 21, Attorney General Garland was called to testify at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee to answer for this ridiculous and dangerous letter that he sent. At the hearing, he told congress that the Department of Justice and the FBI were NOT using counterterrorism tools to investigate parents.

But, with this new FBI whistleblower’s documents, it looks like that’s exactly what the FBI has been doing. In a letter to Garland, Congressman Jim Jordan wrote, “This new information calls into question the accuracy and completeness of your sworn testimony.”

Christopher Rufo, one of my favorite voices in the education world said:

“This is a smoking gun. Attorney General Garland provided zero evidence that parents are engaging in credible threats or acts of violence. And yet, he mobilized the FBI Counterterrorism Division to use counterterrorism tools for investigating, tracking, and tagging parents.”

Rufo later said, “Merrick Garland needs to resign.”
