California Schools Used To Be “Free”
How have people missed this?
Do the leftists know that we had already had a “free education” trial in the state of California back in 1868? –And to nobody’s surprise on the right, it failed.
Though education was “free,” the students still had other fees to pay for, ultimately going straight to the tuition.
Over time, these fees increased astronomically for EVERYONE.
Why? How could this happen? Because “free tuition” is a socialist system; eventually, you run out of other people’s money.
When Ronald Reagan became Governor of California in 1966, he cut off California colleges and California Universities’ disastrous state funding. Ultimately, they moved back to a tuition-based system.
The left should take notes from this epic fail of a socialism trial hidden under the cloak of “free education for all.”
It’s a good thing Ronald Reagan (a conservative) stopped it before it got much, much worse.
