Our team at Turning Point USA has officially returned from another successful Student Action Summit–this time in Tampa, FL, with 5,000 of YOU!

SAS 2021 was my fifth Student Action Summit, and I can truly say these events get better each and every year–ALL of the credit goes to our incredible TPUSA Events team, who works tirelessly for months to ensure each conference is a hit!

Some of the most frequent questions I get from students are those leading up to our conferences–what to pack, what do to, and what you absolutely can’t miss. As we head into our remaining events of 2021 (including our BRAND NEW conference in December, you will NOT want to miss), I want to share with you my thoughts on the most frequent questions I get from you all about events!

How do I apply to attend a TPUSA conference?

All of our events are shared on our website, www.tpusa.com/events. On this web page, you will find links to information about all of our upcoming conferences with information on applying or buying adult tickets!

What are the top 5 things I absolutely MUST pack in my suitcase?

Packing for conferences can be confusing since you don’t know what you’ll be doing at every moment of the day! I will never go to a TPUSA conference without these 5 things:

(1) A portable charger for when my phone dies 6 times a day.

(2) Comfortable shoes to wear to and from the hotel to the conference.

(3) A water bottle to refill throughout the day.

(4) Business cards for networking with people I meet along the way,

(5) A sweatshirt or jacket to wear in the conference center since the AC is usually blaring.

What if I don’t know anyone else going?

This is a common question that often acts as a deterrent for new people attending a conference. Here’s the secret–most people at TPUSA conferences don’t know ANYONE there! I attended my first conference in 2017, knowing nothing about the organization, with no chapter at my university, and knowing no one other than the 2 people I brought with me. To this day, the people I met at that first conference have remained my dearest friends. Countless people have found relationships that last a lifetime at TPUSA events, so don’t be afraid to jump on a plane knowing you’ll find your people on the other side!

How can I have a chance to meet my favorite speakers?

We love to meet YOU, too! There are typically meet & greets for most speakers throughout the conference, whether it’s an opportunity to take a picture with them or have a book signed. Never be shy about coming up to your favorite speaker and introducing yourself; the community of support we have in this conservative movement is what keeps us going every day!

What’s your favorite part of TPUSA events?

Without a doubt, the people. I look forward to meeting students all year, and getting to hear your stories and know the work we are doing makes an impact every day is truly the greatest part of my job!
