Can rioting be compared to the American Revolution? Absolutely NOT. You may often hear enablers of riots and protests arguing that there’s no difference between what they’re doing and things like the American Revolution. Don’t believe it for ONE SECOND.
The most significant difference is that the patriots in the American Revolution were a reaction to over-bearing tyranny from royalty who wasn’t even present for their tyrannical governing. Riots that we see today usually happen when someone breaks the law and then the law is enforced.
A prime example was just the other day in Washington DC someone was pulled over for not wearing a helmet on a moped, the police pulled the person over, and they tried to evade the police on A MOPED. The moped driver’s reckless actions caused a collision where he was killed. Violence then erupted because the rioters accused the police when, in fact, it was 100% the moped driver’s fault.
Of course, riots have happened after something illegal was done. Unlike the Early-Americans, we have the right to handle things because we have the right to vote. The power is literally in our hands, something that the patriots who started the American Revolution died for.
In the Boston Tea Party, the patriots didn’t pocket the tea and just steal it for their gain; they dumped overboard and said, “No taxation without representation.” This is a big difference from the looters who are taking advantage of injustices to get the new XBOX and PS5. They don’t care about the injustice that does occur; they are focused on one thing, themself, which is a staunch difference between the rioters and patriots. The patriots were focused on one thing, the good of AMERICA.
