Scott Longman is a litigator in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. His practice covers three primary areas of litigation.
As to products liability, for more than a dozen years, he has been part of a national team representing a Fortune 50 manufacturer in its medical device litigation. He has represented other major manufacturers in the defense of cases involving chemicals, drugs and medical devices. As to commercial litigation, he has represented companies in cases involving business torts, contract disputes and other commercial matters.
As to insurance coverage for policyholders, he has represented a national railroad in protracted litigation against more than fifty insurers, resulting in significant coverage. In addition, Mr. Longman also exhibits extensive experience with environmental insurance coverage litigation.
Before practicing law, Mr. Longman served in the U.S. Department of State. He received his B.A. from Northwestern University, and his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a Harno Fellow and an associate editor on the Law Review.
Mr. Longman is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois, the federal district courts in Illinois, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
