ICE Sets Back-to-Back Record Days for Illegal Immigrant Arrests

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) set a new single-day record for illegal immigrant arrests on Wednesday, after breaking the previous record just one day prior.

According to a report by Fox News, a senior ICE official confirmed that ICE apprehended 2,368 individuals on Wednesday and 2,267 on Tuesday. The totals far exceed the daily average of about 1,600 arrests seen in the previous week.

The increase reflects a new phase in enforcement intensity as the White House has urged ICE to ramp up its deportation numbers. Back in January, the administration set a target of 1,800 daily arrests. However, reports from May revealed that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem viewed the earlier quota as insufficient, urging immigration officials to set a goal of at least 3,000 arrests per day.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are looking to set a goal of a minimum of 3,000 arrests for ICE every day,” Miller told Fox News at the end of May. “And President Trump is going to keep pushing to get that number up higher each and every single day, so we can get all of the Biden illegals that were flooded into our country for four years out of our country.”

ICE has expanded its enforcement operations, increasing worksite raids and making arrests at immigration courts. In addition to primary targets, agents have been arresting individuals found in proximity to those being apprehended.

Officials say ICE’s capacity may grow even further if the reconciliation bill passes, which includes funding for 10,000 additional personnel and more resources. ICE sources said if the bill were to pass, deportation numbers would be “supercharged and shoot through the roof.”
