Federal Agencies to Cancel All Contracts with Harvard

The Trump administration is urging all federal agencies to terminate or move away from contracts with Harvard University.

In a letter sent Tuesday to federal agencies, Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum directed officials to take steps to end existing contracts with the Ivy League school by June 6. The letter accuses Harvard of discriminatory practices in its admissions process and broader discriminatory behavior. Federal agencies currently maintain approximately $100 million worth of contracts with Harvard.

“We recommend that your agency terminate for convenience each contract that it determines has failed to meet its standards, and transition to a new vendor those contracts that could be better serviced by an alternative counterparty. Going forward, we also encourage your agency to seek alternative vendors for future services where you had previously considered Harvard,” Gruenbaum wrote in the letter, according to The Daily Wire. “We look forward to assisting you with terminating or transitioning these contracts.”

The letter referenced the Supreme Court case Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard as evidence of racial bias in the university’s admissions. “The statistical evidence of Harvard’s racial discrimination in their admissions… is shocking, to say the least,” Gurenbaum wrote.

He added that Harvard “has shown no indication of reforming their admissions process,” and noted the school now offers a remedial math course for incoming students, calling it a consequence of prioritizing “discriminatory factors” over merit in admissions.

“Harvard is suspected of engaging in a pattern or practice of disparate treatment in hiring, promotion, compensation, and other personnel related actions,” Gruenbaum added.

Additionally, the letter criticized Harvard’s response to anti-Israel protests on campus, saying the university’s inaction has disrupted daily operations and deprived Jewish students of academic opportunities.

This latest move escalates the ongoing conflict between the Trump administration and Harvard, which kicked off when the administration froze more than $2 billion in federal funding, mainly over the university’s support for DEI policies and anti-Israel activism on campus.

“I would have done anything to have Turning Point USA when I was your age, so it really is a true honor to be here today.”
